Local Area Unemployment
Ama studied economics during the Great Recession and pursued graduate studies in public policy during the recovery period. Recognizing unemployment as one of the most widely analyzed labor market indicators, she created an interactive choropleth map to visualize state-level changes in unemployment rates across the United States from 2010 to 2014. Built in Excel using a combination of scroll bars and VBA, the map draws on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Local Area Unemployment Statistics Program.
