Local Area Unemployment

I was an economics college student during the Great Recession and a public policy graduate student during recovery. Unemployment is one of the most widely studied (and used) labor market indicators. I created this map to visualize (state-level) changes in unemployment rates across the United States from 2010 to 2014.

The interactive choropleth map was created in Excel (scroll bar and VBA) using data gathered from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Local Area Unemployment Statistics Program.
